TUI’s operations are gradually resuming.
From 14th May to the end of May TUI operated 889 flights to over 40 destinations across the world with more than 137,000 passengers travelling with TUI.
Although TUI is currently operating to fewer destinations than before the pandemic, due to the travel restrictions in place, there are encouraging steps forward as governments slowly ease restrictions.
On 14 May TUI kicked off the summer season in Greece with the first TUI flight from Sweden arriving in Chania in Crete. The following day TUI fly flew customers from six German regional airports to Heraklion in Crete. TUI Germany continues to operate to the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, a number of Greek islands, Turkey (AYT), the UAE, Dominican Republic, Mexico and the Maldives. TUI’s Nordic programme also resumed with flights from Sweden to Cyprus (Larnaca), Rhodes, Gran Canaria, Majorca as well as Crete. From Denmark TUI is operating to Majorca and Portugal (Faro).
With the UK travel ban lifting on 17th May, TUI started operations to Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, the Algarve, Madeira, Porto, Crete (Heraklion), Kos, Rhodes, Corfu, St Lucia, Cuba, and Antigua. It plans to operate our first flights to Tenerife and Fuerteventura on the 4th and 5th June.
The Netherlands government also introduced a traffic light system a few weeks ago, so TUI started bringing Dutch customers back to the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Portugal mainland, many Greek islands, Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire and St Martin. These destinations have a positive advisory from the government and do not require travelers to quarantine upon arrival. More destinations from the Netherlands will resume this week. For full details on TUI’s operations please keep checking the weekly operational bulletin.
This month TUI has also seen some trends across the markets in terms of durations. TUI’s data shows that British holidaymakers are opting for longer breaks away in May, with the average length of stay 9 daya. German holidaymakers are also preferring more than a week in the sun, with an average length of stay 8 days. Customers in the Nordics prefer a week, whilst customers in Belgium and the Netherlands are preferring to book shorter breaks with the average duration 6 days.
TUI is excited about bringing customers back to destinations across the world and through the doors of hotel partners.
